Bath bombs and soap are high-pH, wet systems — exactly where many decorative pigments shift, bleed or dull. Choosing cosmetic-grade, pH-stable effect pigments is the difference between a premium bath product and a grey, patchy one.

Formulation guardrails

  • Use cosmetic-grade pearl/glitter explicitly rated for bath & soap; verify pH stability with your actual base.
  • Disperse thoroughly and avoid over-mixing that fractures flake.
  • For a "reveal in water" effect, confirm the pigment stays bound in the solid and only shows on use — not bleeds immediately.
Q: Will my pearl survive the curing soap (high pH)? A: Only grades validated for soap. Test a small batch through full cure; a pigment stable in cold-process may still shift in hot-process or high-lye systems.
Q: Is cosmetic glitter safe to rinse down the drain? A: Prefer biodegradable (cellulose) glitter for rinse-off formats; even then, follow local disposal guidance — certification describes breakdown, not permission to release.
