Fluorescent pigment looks "lit from within" under daylight because it converts invisible UV into visible light, adding emission on top of normal reflected colour. That is why it reads as neon-bright even without a blacklight.

Where it earns its keep

Fluorescent colour is the standard for safety marking, traffic and agricultural visibility, high-attention packaging, and vivid plastic or ink systems. Its main limitation is lightfastness — the same dye chemistry that glows also fades faster under prolonged sun, so specify UV-stabilised grades and topcoats for outdoor use.

Q: Will fluorescent colour stay bright outdoors for years? A: Plain fluorescent fades faster than conventional pigment under UV. For outdoor life, choose a UV-stabilised grade and a protective clearcoat; expect shorter service life than non-fluorescent colour.
Q: Can I use it in a hot-melt or extrusion? A: Only within the pigment's temperature ceiling. Fluorescent dyes lose brightness above their thermal limit, so confirm the processing window before extrusion.
